Thorntons Promo Code valid in October 2026

Are you looking for Thorntons promo codes? Start saving now with our updated and tested discount codes in October 2026

Using a Thorntons discount code takes less than a minute, but a few conditions decide whether the saving appears at checkout. Promotions are for online customers only, codes cover full-price items rather than products already reduced on the site, and every order has to reach a minimum value once discounts are applied. Standard delivery also becomes free automatically above a set basket total, as shown on the Thorntons delivery page. The codes and offers above are kept up to date, and each one shows its main conditions. Checking the minimum spend and expiry date before you copy a code is the quickest way to avoid a rejected discount.

How to use a Thorntons discount code

The process is the same for every code on this page:

1. Copy the code from the list above and open the website.
2. Add the products you want to your basket, then open your shopping bag.
3. Find the Enter promo code field, which sits above the order summary, before the checkout button.
4. Paste the code into the field and click Apply.
5. Check that the discount appears as a separate line in the order summary before you proceed to checkout.

The last step matters most. If a discount line appears and the total has dropped, the code has been accepted. If nothing changes, the cause is often practical: a space copied along with the code, or a code that doesn't apply to the items in your basket. The official store does not allow promo codes to be combined with other online special offers, so when two Thorntons code options apply to your order, use the one that gives the larger saving on your actual basket.

Thorntons voucher code not working? Common reasons

When a promo code is accepted but the total barely moves, or the code is refused outright, the reason is usually one of the conditions in the brand's promotional terms.

The first thing to check is the basket itself. Codes apply only to full-price items and cannot be used on products already included in a website special offer. In practice, if your basket mixes a reduced box with full-price chocolates, the code discounts only the full-price part, which is why the saving can look smaller than expected.

The second check is the minimum spend. Every online order needs to be at least £15 after discounts, and some codes come with a higher threshold. For example, a 10% code on a £16 basket brings the total to £14.40, which falls below the minimum. Adding one more item solves the problem.

Third, look at the code's history and status. Each code can be redeemed once per customer, and the company can withdraw a promotion earlier than planned if a featured product sells out. Free delivery promotions cover standard delivery only, so a delivery code will not reduce the price of Named Day delivery.

Larger orders follow separate rules. Thorntons may cancel orders over £250 if it reasonably believes they are for business purposes, after attempting to contact you first. Orders discounted by a technical glitch or error can also be cancelled and refunded.

Where to find more Thorntons discount codes

Beyond the codes on this page, the most reliable source of new offers is Thorntons itself. Signing up for the email newsletter is the simplest way to hear about promotions, seasonal ranges and new collections. Any welcome offer linked to the sign-up, and its conditions, is shown in the form on the website, so check it there rather than relying on older information.

If you are a student, it is worth checking the Thorntons page on Student Beans. The store has a dedicated brand page on the platform, and any current student code appears there once your status is verified. Personal codes like these follow the same rules as standard voucher codes: they apply to full-price items and cannot be stacked with other online offers.

The website also links to its Facebook, YouTube, X and Instagram pages, which are useful for keeping track of seasonal campaigns and new launches.

Free delivery at Thorntons

You do not need a free delivery code at Thorntons. Standard delivery becomes free automatically once your basket reaches the minimum spend shown on the Delivery Information page. Below that amount, a delivery charge applies. Royal Mail handles standard deliveries, which usually arrive within three working days of dispatch, and orders placed before 11am are normally dispatched the same day.

The threshold is calculated on your basket total after discounts, so applying a code can move you further away from it. The order summary in your shopping bag shows exactly how much you still need to spend for free standard delivery. If that amount is close to the delivery charge, adding a small item such as a chocolate bag costs about the same as paying for delivery, and you get an extra item for roughly the same total.

Named Day delivery costs more than standard delivery and arrives on a day you choose between Tuesday and Friday. You need to order before 4pm, Monday to Friday; orders placed later, or at the weekend, will not arrive until the following working Tuesday. Online promotions do not cover delivery charges unless the offer states otherwise, so the faster option is usually paid in full.

Offers you can get without a Thorntons promotional code

Part of the saving needs no code at all. The Special Offers section lists reduced chocolates, and these prices are available only while stocks last. Percentage discounts and multi-buy deals apply only to clearly marked products, and the saving is added automatically in your basket or at checkout.

The company also runs free-gift offers when you reach a set spend. These depend on stock, and the free item does not include personalisation.

Since codes and online offers cannot be combined, the smart move is to compare the two before paying. If most of your basket is already reduced, the automatic offer usually comes out ahead. If most items are full price, a percentage code may save more, especially on a larger order.

Good-value Thorntons gifts on a budget

For smaller gifts, the price-band categories on the website make it easy to stay within a set amount. You can browse gifts grouped by price, from small treats to more generous presents, without filtering the whole range yourself. Single chocolate bags and boxes of Special Toffee are among the most affordable options, and they work well as small gifts or as an easy way to round up a basket.

The Chocolate Bundles section is convenient if you need several gifts at once, but the unit price is worth checking. At the time of writing, a pack of five chocolate bags costs the same as buying five single bags separately. A bundle is mainly a matter of convenience, then, rather than a lower price per bag. Comparing the bundle price with the single-item price before you add it to your basket takes a few seconds and shows whether there is a real saving. A bundle bought at full price may also bring your basket closer to the free delivery threshold shown in your order summary.

Saving on Thorntons personalised gifts

Personalised chocolates, such as hand-iced models or boxes with a name, can generally be discounted with a code, provided they are full price and not already part of another offer. Check the conditions of your code before applying it. Free gifts linked to a spend threshold never include personalisation, so a personalised item cannot be the free product in those promotions.

Timing helps too. For selected personalised products, ordering before 12pm on a weekday (excluding bank holidays) gets them delivered the next working day.

Before confirming, check the spelling of every name and message. Personalised items are refunded only in case of damage or delay, so a typo cannot be corrected with a return.

When to shop: seasonal savings at Thorntons

Thorntons promotions tend to follow the gifting calendar, with dedicated ranges around Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Easter and Christmas. The brand has also run its own Black Friday promotion, offering 15% off chocolate boxes, gifts and treats on orders of £40 or more. There is no guarantee the same deal will return, but the period has offered savings on Christmas gifts in the past.

If you plan to stock up during a sale, keep the shelf life in mind. Thorntons products last six to eight weeks unless the product description says otherwise, so it makes sense to buy only what you will eat or give within that time.

For Christmas, check the last order dates on the Delivery Information page as December approaches, and allow extra time if you choose standard delivery.

Thorntons for business: corporate and bulk orders

If you are buying chocolates for clients or staff, the store has a dedicated corporate route with its own conditions. Corporate promotions are reserved for corporate account customers whose orders reach the minimum value set in the promotional terms. The unique codes are tied to the account's registered email address and cannot be shared, and standard online offers do not apply to corporate customers unless stated.

Placing a large order through a regular account is not a reliable alternative, because the company may cancel high-value consumer orders if they look like business purchases. Planning ahead also matters. Some popular gifts can be shipped within 2 working days through a customer account, while hand-iced options and the corporate-only gift-wrapped box are shipped within 10 working days. Very large orders get a bespoke service when you contact the store directly, and delivery to a reception, post room or security desk is available only with Named Day delivery.

Additional Information

Cashback platforms are one of the less obvious ways to save on Thorntons orders. Several of them list Thorntons and return a percentage of your spend after the purchase is confirmed. The rate often drops when you also use a voucher code: one platform shows 4% on a standard online purchase but 1% when a voucher code is used. Before choosing, compare a code's immediate discount with the cashback you would receive without it. Cashback is credited later and depends on the purchase being tracked, so the immediate discount is usually the more certain saving.

Sending a gift directly to the recipient is another simple saving. The store delivers straight to the address you choose, so you do not pay to post the chocolates a second time. The same logic applies to several gifts for different people: one large basket can reach the threshold more easily than separate small orders, but it only works if all the gifts go to the same address.

Weight is a detail that can change the final cost of a large order. Each delivery charge covers up to 1.2 kg of products, and heavier orders need a phone call to arrange. If your basket includes several large boxes or hampers, check the delivery cost in the summary before paying, rather than assuming free delivery covers everything.

Timing a purchase around the gifting calendar also helps. Offers on seasonal ranges usually appear in the weeks before each occasion, which leaves time to compare a code with the automatic discounts in the Special Offers section. Ordering early for important dates also removes the need for paid Named Day delivery.

FAQ

Can I use a code in a Thorntons shop?

A discount code works only on online orders. In March 2021, the company announced the closure of all 61 of its remaining shops. Independent partner stores still stock a selection of products, and the store recommends calling ahead to check availability.

Can I buy Thorntons chocolates in supermarkets?

Yes, some ranges are sold in supermarkets. For example, the Continental box has been sold at Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco. Online codes and its free delivery threshold do not apply to those purchases.

Does Thorntons deliver abroad?

At the moment, the company does not ship internationally or to the Channel Islands. You can still send a gift to anyone at an address within the delivery area.

Can I get free delivery in Northern Ireland or the Highlands?

Some remote postcodes, including Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands, can receive only Named Day delivery. Free delivery promotions cover standard delivery only, so check the delivery charge in your summary before paying.

Who delivers Thorntons orders, and can I track them?

Royal Mail delivers orders. Standard orders can be tracked within 24 hours of dispatch and Named Day orders within 72 hours, using the link in your shipping email.

Why might my order take longer in summer?

In hot weather, the store may hold orders in a temperature-controlled warehouse until conditions improve, which can take up to 14 working days. The delivery charge still applies, and you will receive an email when the order is dispatched.

I forgot to add my promotional code. Can I add it after ordering?

Once an order is placed and confirmed, it cannot be changed. If it has not shipped yet, the company can cancel and refund it, so you can then place the order again with your code.

Can I return a discounted order?

For products that are not personalised, on orders under £250, you can cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods. Return postage is usually your cost, unless the products are damaged, not as described or delivered late.

Is there a limit on how much I can order?

Each delivery charge covers up to 1.2 kg. For heavier orders, the store asks you to call so the delivery can be arranged.

Can I order gifts that include alcohol?

Yes, but there are extra checks. Parcels containing alcohol need an age check at the door or at a Royal Mail collection point, and they will not be left in a safe place or with a neighbour.

Which payment methods can I use?

The official website accepts Visa, Mastercard and Maestro, and American Express only through Apple Pay or PayPal. PayPal also gives you the option to pay after your order is delivered.

How can I contact Thorntons about my order?

The quickest route is the Thorntons Help Centre, which has a dedicated form for questions about an order. The phone number and email address for customer care are listed in the contact details on the website. Having your order number ready helps the team find your order faster.
