How to use an Oddbox discount code

Codes for this veg box service are entered while you set up a subscription, not in a regular shopping basket. Sign-up runs through five stages, shown at the top of the page: Address checker, Choose box, Account, Delivery and Payment. Alongside the form, an Order Summary panel lists your box, address, delivery frequency, box price, delivery fee and total. Just below the total sits a field labelled Gift card/discount code with an Apply button, and that's where your code goes. Copy the code or open the offer from this page, then follow these steps:

  • Enter your postcode in the address checker to confirm that deliveries reach your area.
  • Choose your box type and size, then pick weekly or fortnightly deliveries.
  • When the Order Summary appears, paste the code into the Gift card/discount code field and press Apply.
  • Check that the total in the summary has dropped before you move on to the Delivery and Payment steps.
  • Complete your account, delivery and payment details to confirm the subscription.

Applying the code before you reach the Payment step gives you room to react. If the total hasn't changed, the code hasn't been accepted, and switching box or code is much simpler now than after your first payment. Some offers apply automatically when you follow the link, in which case the reduced total is already showing. The accepted payment options appear at the bottom of the checkout and include both cards and digital wallets.

Orders from The Market have their own checkout, so a box code belongs in your subscription sign-up. If you already subscribe and have credit on your account, there's nothing to enter, because the credit comes off your next order automatically.

What an Oddbox voucher code actually covers

Most welcome offers take a percentage off the first few deliveries of a new subscription instead of giving one large saving on the first box. This changes how you compare them. A modest percentage spread over several boxes can be worth more overall than a fixed amount taken off once. So check how many deliveries each offer covers, not only its headline figure.

The discount applies to the price of the box. In the Order Summary the delivery fee sits on its own line, and welcome offers normally leave it untouched, along with any add-ons. The Fruit Booster box doesn't qualify at all. If your first order is a mixed fruit and veg box with a couple of add-ons, expect the reduction on the box line only, with extras and delivery charged in full.

The terms attached to each offer state how many deliveries it covers and which boxes are eligible. Reading them before you sign up avoids surprises on the first payment.

Why your Oddbox promo code isn't working

When a code is rejected, the cause is usually one of the conditions attached to the offer rather than a technical fault.

The box you've chosen is the most frequent reason. The Fruit Booster and the extra small mixed box are excluded from all discount offers. If the Fruit Booster is in your summary and the total hasn't moved after you press Apply, go back to the Choose box step and pick another box, such as a small mixed box. That normally brings the discount back.

Eligibility comes next. Welcome offers are reserved for new subscribers and can be used once per customer and once per delivery address. The address rule stops the same household from restarting an offer with a fresh account. A partner or flatmate signing up at your address won't be able to use it again.

Combining offers isn't allowed. If you have both a referral link and a welcome code, compare them and keep whichever saves you more before you finish signing up. Referral discounts also require a minimum box value, and they're lost if you cancel before your first delivery.

Codes only work for postcodes within the delivery area, and an expired code won't apply. Typing the code exactly as shown, without extra spaces, rules out the simplest error.

More ways to get an Oddbox discount

If you know someone who already subscribes, ask for their referral link. Joining through it takes a fixed amount off your first box, as long as you're a new customer and your box meets the minimum value in the referral terms. When no welcome code is listed, this is often the simplest route, although it can't be combined with one.

Once you subscribe, your own referral link becomes available after your first box has been paid for. Each friend who joins earns you account credit, up to a set number of referrals, and the credit comes off your next box automatically. The sign-up page presents this as a standard feature of the service rather than a time-limited promotion.

During sign-up there's also a checkbox for opting out of offers, recipes and updates by email, SMS or phone. Leaving it unticked keeps you informed when new promotions come up. There's currently no points or loyalty scheme, which makes referrals the main reward for existing customers.

Oddbox savings without a coupon code

Once the welcome offer has run its course, most of the remaining savings come from how you shop. The Market is the brand's shop for pantry staples and refillables. Its rescued range sells products below their recommended retail price. These items are already reduced, so treat them as a separate saving from any box discount rather than something a code adds to.

Market orders carry a minimum spend. Delivery is free when the order travels with your fruit and veg box, while next-day courier delivery costs extra. If you subscribe and the items aren't urgent, adding them to your regular delivery avoids that charge. Market purchases are charged at checkout, separately from your subscription.

Fruit and veg boxes, by contrast, carry a delivery fee on every order, shown as its own line in the summary. When you're away, you can skip deliveries from your account for several weeks in a row, so you don't pay for food nobody will be home to eat.

Skipping is also worth considering before you cancel. If you leave and rejoin later, you pay the prices in place at that point, and a welcome offer you've already used won't apply again.

Choose the right box size and stop paying for waste

Box size affects your saving as much as price does, because produce that ends up in the bin is money spent for nothing. Mixed fruit and veg boxes come in four sizes, from extra small to large. Veg-only boxes come in three sizes, and there's also a fruit-only Fruit Booster. Each box description lists how many types of fruit and veg it includes. That count is a more reliable guide than price alone when you're comparing sizes.

The extra small mixed box is the cheapest option, but it's excluded from discount offers. While a welcome offer is running, a discounted small box can come close to it in price while giving you more variety. Compare the two totals in the Order Summary before you decide.

If you're unsure, a smaller box is a sensible place to start, because you can change type or size later from your account. Switching between weekly and fortnightly deliveries is another way to match your box to what you actually eat.

Get more value from every delivery

Before each delivery, you receive an email inviting you to review what's coming. Any changes need to be made before your weekly cut-off, a few days ahead of the delivery day; the exact deadline is shown in your account. Payment is taken at the same point, which helps the business order only what it needs from growers.

Depending on your box, you can swap items for others on that week's rescue list or set a short list of exclusions. If you leave everything as it is, you'll get the standard selection. Exclusions work well for items you know you won't eat. Each excluded item is replaced with something else rather than removed, so you still receive a full box.

A separate weekly email lists add-ons, which are extra rescued items you can include in your delivery. These sit outside any welcome discount and are charged at full price. The sign-up page also points to hundreds of free recipes, which make it easier to cook everything in the box before it goes off.

What to know next

Some of the most useful ways to save aren't obvious from the sign-up page. Welcome offers also run through partner pages, where the discount is usually applied automatically and appears in the Order Summary without you typing anything. The terms at the bottom of those pages explain what's included. They typically follow the same rules as other welcome offers: new customers only, with the Fruit Booster, add-ons and delivery excluded.

Timing plays a smaller role than with most online shops. There's no published sales calendar for the boxes, and new-subscriber offers change from time to time. Choosing well matters more, because a welcome offer can only be used once per customer and per address. If you don't need a box straight away, compare the offer currently listed on this page with any referral link you have access to. That way you start with the stronger of the two.

Two codes can't go on one order, so the realistic approach is to layer different savings over time. A welcome offer covers your first boxes. The Market's rescued range then lowers the cost of pantry items, which are delivered free with your box once you reach the minimum spend. After your first payment, your own referral link starts building credit for later deliveries.

Some paid membership schemes aimed at families have also listed Oddbox benefits for their members. These are only worth considering if you already belong to one, since a membership fee can cancel out the saving. Check whether the benefit follows the same new-customer rules before relying on it.

FAQ

Is there an Oddbox student discount?

At the time of writing, there's no dedicated Oddbox student discount. Students can still use the welcome offers for new subscribers or join through a friend's referral link, since both are open to any new customer.

Is there an NHS, Blue Light or military discount?

No dedicated discount for NHS staff, Blue Light Card holders or the armed forces is listed on the website at the moment. Schemes like these can be introduced or changed, so check the official site before you subscribe.

Can existing customers use a welcome code?

Welcome codes are intended for new subscribers, so they generally won't work on an existing account. If credit is added to your account, for example after a problem with a delivery, it's deducted from your next order automatically.

Will my discount still apply if prices go up?

Percentage-based discounts already on your account keep applying after a price change, as confirmed when box prices were last updated. The percentage is simply taken off the new price.

When will I be charged?

Payment is taken at your weekly cut-off, a few days before your delivery day. Until then, you can still change your box, your delivery instructions and your exclusions.

Can I order a single box without subscribing?

The service works as a subscription, so there's no one-off box. You choose weekly or fortnightly deliveries. You can cancel after your first delivery, provided you do it before the cut-off for the next one.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel from your account, as long as you do it before the cut-off for your next box. If you rejoin later, your boxes are charged at the prices in place at that point.

Can I buy a gift voucher?

The field at checkout is labelled for gift cards as well as discount codes, but gift vouchers aren't currently on sale. To introduce someone to the service, you can share your referral link instead. It gives them money off their first box and earns you account credit.

Can I send a box to a different address?

In London, the South East and the Midlands, you can add a second box to your account and have it delivered to another address. In the North, a box for a different address needs its own account.

Can I shop The Market without a subscription?

Yes, The Market is open to everyone, not only subscribers. Without a fruit and veg box to travel with, your order goes by next-day delivery, which has a charge, and the minimum spend still applies.

Does Oddbox deliver to my area?

Deliveries cover a large part of the country, and new areas are added over time. The address checker at the start of sign-up tells you straight away, and you can join the waiting list if your postcode isn't covered yet.

What if my produce arrives damaged or in poor condition?

Contact customer support soon after delivery, within the time limit set out in the terms, and include a photo if you can. Fresh food can't be returned because you've changed your mind, but faulty produce can be refunded or exchanged.
