On what is left, Zola allows one promotion code per order, entered in the cart, and where two reductions could apply to the same item it keeps the larger one instead of adding them together, except that a code in the cart cancels the post-wedding completion discount. Three calls to settle before you spend anything

Was the wedding inside the last six months? Then clear the cart of codes before you compare. Zola takes 20% off unpurchased gifts left on the registry for six months after the wedding date, applied automatically, and its own guidance is that a promo code in the cart cancels that out. The code has to beat the 20% on its own to be worth using.

Contributing to somebody's group gift? Nothing on this page will move that figure. Zola's discount terms exclude partial contributions on group gifts, and they exclude cash funds, honeymoon funds and experiences alongside them, so a code entered against any of those has nothing to bite on.

Invitations on the list this month? Start with the free samples rather than the code. Zola sends couples five customizable samples with free shipping, letterpress designs aside, but they are made before they ship, so the free part only helps somebody who begins well ahead of the mailing date they are working to.

Where a Zola coupon code goes in the cart

The code is entered on the cart page, before the shipping and payment steps, and the whole sequence is short:

Find what you came for on zola.com. Registry gifts, wedding websites, invitations and day-of paper, guest list and seating tools all live under the same account.
Add it, signing in if you are prompted. A registry purchase generally wants to know which couple it belongs to.
Open the cart and put the code in the promo code field. The estimated total should redraw straight away to show the reduction.
Read that new total before you go any further. Zola accepts a single promotion code on an order, so trying a second one means taking the first out rather than adding to it.

Entering a Zola promo code in the cart before checkout

Comparing two cards is therefore a swap and not a stack, and the cart is the honest place to do it: same items, two totals, one after the other. It is also where the arithmetic Zola sets out in its terms becomes visible, because when an item qualifies for more than one reduction the brand applies the larger and drops the other rather than combining them, though a code sitting in the cart cancels out the post-wedding completion discount.

What a Zola discount code cannot touch

Most refused codes at Zola are not broken codes. They are codes aimed at something the brand has already written out of the offer, and the list of what is written out is unusually long for a wedding site:

Partial contributions on group gifts. Named explicitly in the discount terms. A guest putting part of the money toward a big-ticket item gets no discount on that share.
Cash funds, honeymoon funds and experiences. Three categories that make up a large share of a modern registry, all excluded in the same sentence of the terms.
Gifts imported from elsewhere. Anything added with the Add Anything tool or the barcode scanner counts as an external gift, and discounts do not apply to those.
Zola's own gifts, under the paper terms. The Invites + Paper terms and the book-a-vendor save the date terms apply their discount to paper products sold directly by Zola and list Zola gifts among the exclusions.
Gift cards, store credit and past purchases. Also employee purchases. A code cannot be applied backwards to an order already placed.
Delivery surcharges, tax and other fees. The reduction works on merchandise, so a delivery surcharge stays exactly where it was.
Certain paper lines, even under a paper code. The Invites + Paper terms rule out Change the Date cards, holiday cards, wedding albums and paper add-ons.

Two further rules decide the rest. Only one code is redeemable per order and it cannot be combined or stacked with another discount or offer.^[1] And where an item does qualify for several reductions at once, Zola states that the greatest one is applied, which means a code can be accepted and still change the total by nothing at all, because something larger was already in play. The post-wedding completion discount is the exception: Zola's help page on it says a promo code already in the cart cancels it out.

One last case catches people after the fact rather than at checkout: a discount is not redeemable on a future purchase if the original transaction is canceled or returned. Spending a one-time code on an order you are unsure about is spending it, whether or not the goods stay with you.

The 20% that arrives with no code

The largest standing reduction on this site is not a code and cannot be found on any coupon list. Zola's wedding registry completion discount terms set out a 20% reduction on unpurchased gifts still sitting on a couple's registry, redeemable throughout the six-month period that follows the wedding date, and its help center adds that it is applied automatically at checkout and can be used as often as you like inside that window.^[2]

Three conditions decide who gets it, and the first one is the one couples miss. Zola requires a wedding date to be set in the Registry Settings, and states that without one there is no eligibility at all. It also asks that the registry was created thirty or more days before that date and is still active, and that at least one gift was received from it before the wedding day.

On what it covers, the terms are generous in one direction and firm in the other. The discount may be used on sale items, and Zola confirms that the 20% then comes off the sale price rather than the original. It may not be combined with any other discount, promotion, coupon or code, and price matching is named as incompatible too. The exclusion list runs through experiences, cash funds, honeymoon funds, gift cards and store credit, gifts imported from or bought on third-party sites, past purchases, returned merchandise, and a published roster of excluded brands.^[3]

One item on that list deserves saying out loud: gifts added to the registry after the wedding date do not qualify. A couple planning to lean on the completion discount for a few remaining pieces should get those pieces onto the registry beforehand, not once the day has passed.

Code, completion discount or price match: which lever wins

Four of these five levers are Zola's, and its terms keep the code, the completion discount and the price match from being combined. Set side by side, they make it quick to see which one an order should lean on:

Price matching is the least known of the four and the one with the most conditions attached. Zola will match an everyday lower price on a qualifying item from one of the online retailers named on its price matching page, either at the time of purchase or within forty-eight hours of the order date, with the shipping date shown in the Gift Tracker serving as the reference on a registry order.^[4] The item has to be in stock and first quality, sold directly by both Zola and that retailer, an identical match down to size and color, and priced visibly on the retailer's site so it can be checked. Each item is matched once and once only.

What it will not touch narrows it further: promotional prices, sale, clearance, closeout and liquidation stock, limited-time and limited-quantity offers, daily deals, coupon offers, bundles, free items, and anything sold through a marketplace rather than by the retailer itself. Nor does it combine with any other discount, coupon or code, the completion discount included.

Discoup points are not one of Zola's discounts, but they follow rules of their own. They land on your Discoup balance when the store is opened from here with your account signed in, they are figured on the net amount you pay after discounts, leaving out tax and shipping, and the Discoup Rewards Policy warns that a coupon code Discoup did not provide or approve may reduce or cancel them for that purchase.

Invites and paper: samples, proofs and the two-hour window

Paper is where the codes on this page do their heaviest work, and it is also the part of Zola that forgives the least. Everything printed is made to order, which means it is final sale, and the correction window is measured in hours rather than days.

Start with what costs nothing. Zola's paper FAQ sets out five free customizable samples with free shipping for every couple, covering save the dates and invitations, ordered by favoriting the designs you like and picking them from the Favorites tab.^[5] Letterpress designs are the stated exception and cannot be ordered as a sample. Samples take a few business days to prepare and several more in transit, with no expedited option offered on a sample order, so this route rewards starting early and punishes leaving it late.

Then comes the point to settle before anything goes to print. Zola states plainly that it does not have the ability to double-check orders for mistakes before printing, and points to the checkout box reading "All my text, dates, images, and information are correct" as the last step of the review process. Nobody at Zola rereads a date or a last name on your behalf. Ordering a proof of the finished draft before committing to the full run is the counterweight.

If something does slip through, the clock is short. Zola's return policy allows an Invites + Paper order to be canceled within two hours of the order confirmation email arriving, either from the link inside that email or by opening the Orders tab of the Orders + Drafts page and choosing Cancel Order. After those two hours the order is final sale and not returnable, and the only remaining route is to contact support and ask them to try.

Store credit and the 5% cash fund bonus

A quieter way to gain a few percent has nothing to do with codes. Zola states that converting a cash fund gift into store credit earns a 5% bonus on the converted amount, and gives its own worked example of a hundred-dollar contribution becoming a hundred and five in credit.^[6] The catch is in the expiry: the amount the guest actually gave never expires, while the bonus added on top runs out one hundred and eighty days after the conversion.

That split runs through the whole credit system, and it is worth understanding before a balance is left to sit. Credit that comes from converting a gift, redeeming a Zola gift card or returning something is Zola Stored Value and does not expire. Credit that comes from a promotion, a coupon or the conversion bonus carries its own expiry dates, which Zola says can be checked at any time in account settings.

The limits are the same for both kinds. Store credit cannot be cashed out, cannot follow you to another site, cannot buy a cash fund gift or a digital Zola gift card, and cannot be applied backwards to an order already placed. Within the store itself it is broad, covering physical products, experiences and third-party gift cards that Zola sells.

Delivery, returns and the windows that count

Zola's shipping FAQ places free ground shipping on most items sold across the Zola registry and the Zola Home Store. Two groups sit outside it: Invites + Paper, and heavier goods such as furniture that carry a delivery surcharge for size, weight or special handling. When a surcharge applies it is written into the Shipping & Returns section of that item's product page, so it can be checked before anything reaches the cart rather than after.

A paid two-day option exists on selected items, shown in the item description and again at checkout, and its absence there means the item simply is not eligible. The current charge is published in both of those places, which is where to read it rather than here.

Zola's return policy runs free returns for 90 days from delivery across most of the catalog, provided the item is unused and in its original packaging, with the prepaid return label sent by email. Several families run on their own clock. Apparel comes back within thirty days, unworn and with tags attached. Furniture delivered curbside also has thirty days and has to go back unassembled in its original packaging, which is the reason to inspect it on the doorstep rather than after building it. Made to order and custom pieces, assembled furniture, gift cards, redeemed experiences, perishables and personalized items are final sale.^[7]

Who paid decides how the money comes back. Returning a gift you were given produces Zola Stored Value; returning something you bought yourself puts the money back on the original payment method. Both are net of any shipping surcharge and any restocking fee, and a restocking fee is declared in advance on the same product page section as everything else here. Canceling before dispatch means contacting support with the order number; once an order has shipped it cannot be stopped, though the free return remains open.

Common questions about Zola orders and gifts

Several of us want to club together for one big present. How does that work?

The couple enables it, not the guests. Any Zola gift can be marked as a group gift from the Manage Registry page, after which guests contribute whatever amount they choose through the Contribute to Gift button and the ordinary checkout. One detail surprises couples: the listed price goes up when a gift is marked this way, because Zola builds the tax into the total so nobody is left paying it out of pocket later. A single guest can still take the whole thing through Buy Entire Gift, but only while nobody else has contributed yet. Items linked from another store cannot be group gifts at all.

What if a group gift never reaches its total?

Nothing is lost on either side. Zola tells guests that a contribution reaches the couple in full even when the gift is not funded to 100% by the wedding date, and tells couples that the amount gifted comes to them as Zola store credit instead of as the object. So an unfinished group gift becomes spending power in the store rather than a refund to the people who chipped in.

A guest bought us a registry item from another store. Who sorts it out if it is wrong?

Not Zola, and its help center is direct about why: it cannot send shipping or tracking updates on an item bought elsewhere, since that transaction never passed through it. What it does instead is send the guest a follow-up form once they cross over, asking them to confirm the store and the order confirmation number, and that detail then shows up in your Gift Tracker just above the item photo. With the order number and the giver's name in hand, the store that sold it is the one to contact, and the return policy that applies is theirs rather than Zola's.

Are there addresses Zola will not send to?

There are. International shipping is not offered, and neither are deliveries to United States territories or to PO Box, APO, FPO and DPO addresses. Most registry items can go to Alaska and Hawaii, with additional charges. Zola does not ship invitations there, though, and oversized items or items containing hazardous materials may be restricted, which the product page notes under Shipping & Returns. Worth checking before a guest builds an order for a couple who have moved abroad.

A gift arrived broken, or never arrived at all. How long do I have?

Two different clocks, and neither is generous. Damage found on delivery has to reach Zola within thirty days of that delivery for a replacement to be arranged. A package that goes missing in transit is a twenty-one day matter, counted from the delivery date on record, after which Zola warns that replacing the order may no longer be possible.

I bought a gift for a couple but never opened a Zola account. Can I still return it?

You can, and without opening one. Zola's help center has a return page that works from your order number and email address, and its return policy adds that anyone without an account can email the support address for a prepaid return shipping label on any eligible return. Eligibility is the word doing the work in that sentence, and it is settled item by item on the product page rather than at the point of asking.

We would rather have something else. Can a gift be swapped before it ships?

Yes, and discreetly. Before requesting shipment a couple can hold a gift as Zola Stored Value at the amount originally paid and spend it on other items in the store. The person who bought it is not notified, and the original gift stays recorded in the Thank You Manager so the note you send still matches what they chose.

Does price matching cover the baby registry too?

It does not. Zola's price matching page limits the policy to Zola Registry and the Zola Home Store, and states that the baby registry runs a separate price matching policy published on its own site.^[4] If the order in question is a baby registry order, the terms to read are the ones over there.
