You pick a promotion there, build the cart the normal way, sign in or open an account, and go through to checkout, where the coupon comes off the total. To swap one promotion for another, eCampus describes typing the new code into what it calls the Coupon Code box at checkout. Two rules travel with every code here. One coupon applies to an order, so a second one takes the place of the first and does not add to it, and eCampus says a coupon stays applied until a different valid code is entered. In-store credit sits alongside a coupon rather than competing with it: the store states that credit can be spent on the same order as a code, and that an order can clear the free shipping line and carry a coupon at the same time.

Used copies, rental terms and eTextbooks are cheaper at the listing stage, and the saving on them is already settled on the product page well before the code field comes into it.

Why a code comes back refused

eCampus keeps the answer on its coupon page, and it names three causes: the code has aged out and is no longer valid, the order does not meet the conditions attached to that particular discount, or the code was typed wrong. The page also says the checkout will normally return a message giving the reason, which makes the message itself more useful than a second attempt at the same string.

A fourth cause sits further down the same page, and it is not a condition on the code at all. eCampus tells shoppers that a coupon discount can pull an order total back under the free shipping line, at which point delivery has to be paid for after all, and it suggests emptying the cart and rebuilding it if the order gets stuck in that state. The other trap is the Marketplace: items bought from an outside seller do not count toward the free shipping total, because eCampus only covers delivery on the orders it fulfills itself.

The price match is easy to overlook, and it carries a long list of conditions. eCampus will match a new, used or rental textbook within a published window after purchase, the claim is submitted from a signed-in account, and the match is made on the exact ISBN in the same condition and the same format, so a paperback does not match a loose-leaf edition of the same book.

Two details decide what a successful claim actually gives you. The difference comes back as in-store credit for a future order and not as money on the card, and there is a limit of one match per title per customer inside the eligible window. Returns split three ways, and which of the three you are in decides the route. A purchase goes back to the distribution center inside a window counted from the ship date, and the refund comes back short of the shipping charges and a restocking fee; eBooks and access codes are marked non-refundable, though the help desk still sets out a narrow digital return route for a book left largely unopened with its access code unused. A rental has its own route, marked Return My Rental for Free in the account, which prints a packing slip and a prepaid UPS label, and short-term rentals run on a tighter window than the others. A Marketplace purchase goes back to nobody at eCampus: you contact the seller through the account for permission and instructions.

Selling books back is the other direction of the same relationship. eCampus quotes a price per ISBN, pays the return postage with a prepaid label, and offers payment by check, direct deposit, PayPal or in-store credit, saying that credit pays a bonus over the cash options. The quote holds for a limited number of days published with it, and the books have to be postmarked inside that window for the quoted price to stand.
