Viator promo codes in autumn and winter 2026/27: festive tours and bad-weather refunds

Checked for autumn 2026. Christmas 2026 has its own corner of Viator: the London listings include a Christmas category with Christmas lights tours by open-top and vintage bus, festive afternoon-tea buses and walks built around Dickens's A Christmas Carol.

Some outdoor experiences, river trips among them, write the weather into their booking terms. Where a listing's cancellation policy says the experience requires good weather, a trip called off because of poor weather comes with the offer of another date or a full refund.

On the calendar: Viator Rewards earned on an autumn 2026 trip become available 24 hours after it starts and can then be used for 180 days, long enough for a booking made over Christmas 2026 or into spring 2027. The deadline applies to the day the booking is made, not to the travel date.

Booking ahead for the winter months

How far ahead do popular experiences get booked? The answer comes listing by listing. A Viator product page can carry a 'Book ahead!' note with the average number of days that experience is booked in advance, and some experiences also carry a 'Likely to Sell Out' label.

Can a winter experience be reserved early and paid for nearer the date? Yes, on an experience that offers Reserve Now & Pay Later, as long as the date is more than 3 days and less than 12 months away. Viator's help centre sets the timing: full payment falls due between 2 and 9 days before the travel date, depending on the experience.

What if a winter tour does not get enough people? A minimum group size is part of the cancellation policy on the listings that have one, and if not enough travellers book, Viator offers a different date or experience, or a full refund.

Entering a Viator discount code, and why one can be refused

Viator's code field is part of the checkout, not of the experience page. Once a date, the travellers and a start time are chosen on the experience page, 'Book Now' opens the checkout, where the booking summary shows an 'Enter Promo Code' link just above the total price; the field opens from that link. Any code listed in the cards at the top is entered there too.

Viator's help centre ties every promotional code to terms that set its validity dates and restrictions, and some promotions only apply to a customer signed in to a Viator account. Viator Rewards can also stand in the way of a code: available rewards are applied automatically at checkout and cannot be combined with a code, so they have to be switched off before the code goes in. Email specials follow a different route again, since they apply through the link in the email rather than through the code field.

Advertised specials, private-tour pricing and app offers

Viator Rewards is Viator's loyalty programme: bookings made directly on the Viator website or app, while signed in to a Viator account, earn rewards that come off a later booking. The programme's terms leave out bookings where a promotion code was applied, bookings in a currency other than that of rewards already held, and bookings reached through a partner, travel agent or affiliate link, including when such a link was clicked in the previous 30 days.

At the next checkout, available rewards are applied automatically unless they are switched off, always in full rather than in part, and at least £1 of the order still has to be paid in the normal way.

A booking that starts from a Discoup link, which is an affiliate link, does not earn Viator Rewards and can collect Discoup Rewards points instead, a form of cashback paid in points that the programme turns into gift cards. The Lowest Price Guarantee

Experiences on Viator come from independent providers named on their listings, and the Lowest Price Guarantee works at that level. Viator pays back the difference if the same tour or activity, from the same provider, for the same date and in the same currency, is found at a lower retail or prepaid price on another website at any point from booking until 48 hours after the experience starts. A claim goes to priceguarantee@viator.com with the booking or itinerary reference number and proof of the lower price, and Viator reviews it before deciding.

The guarantee covers rates open to the general public, on purchases above a minimum value set in its terms. Prices reached through discounts or promotions from third-party sites, or through membership, corporate, daily-deal, group or rewards schemes, are not counted, nor is a lower total found by buying parts of the experience separately, and a booking made with a Viator promotion cannot be combined with the guarantee.

Free cancellation and Reserve Now & Pay Later

Viator's terms set a standard cancellation policy: a booking cancelled at least 24 hours before its start time is refunded in full, one cancelled later is not refunded, and changes are no longer accepted in those last 24 hours. Experiences without a fixed start time have an earlier cut-off, generally 11:59pm on the second day before the date; every deadline runs on the experience's local time, and cancelling is done through the self-service options in the Viator account.

Not every listing follows that policy. Experiences that the terms describe as 'All Sales Final' or non-refundable cannot be changed, and cannot be cancelled for a refund unless the optional Extended Cancellation Policy described below was bought with the booking; a minority carry custom terms, and the version in the listing's Cancellation Policy section at the time of booking is the one that applies.

Reserve Now & Pay Later, which Viator offers at no additional cost on eligible experiences, confirms a booking without an upfront payment, and on those listings the option appears just below the 'Check Availability' button. Viator's help centre adds that a credit card has to be added at the time of booking and is checked with a one-off authorisation for the smallest whole amount in the booking currency, and that the ticket only becomes available once full payment has been taken.

Viator's help centre also describes an optional Extended Cancellation Policy, bought only at the time of booking, which refunds the cost of the experience when it is cancelled before a cut-off that depends on the experience's own cancellation policy. The price of that option is not refundable, and a discount applies to the experience price only, not to the option.
