Alongside those, the UNIQLO membership page presents three sign-up channels as the way in for a new customer, the app, the email newsletter and SMS messages, each carrying its own offer, plus a referral offer that pays both people when a friend downloads the app. The email sign-up coupon is not instant: UNIQLO says it is delivered to your wallet one day after you subscribe, which matters if you were planning to use it on the same evening.

When a UNIQLO coupon will not apply

Start with the total, because UNIQLO publishes an unusually precise rule about it. For a coupon to go through, the subtotal has to exceed the coupon amount by at least a dollar, and that rule applies to coupons that do not already carry a stated minimum of their own. A basket built to match a coupon exactly will be refused by design, not by accident.

Then check what is in the basket. UNIQLO states that coupons cannot be used on gift card purchases or on alteration fees, so an order made up of those will not give the coupon anything to work on. Coupons also cannot be exchanged for cash, which rules out the idea of banking one for later value.

If the total and the contents are right, the problem is usually ownership or timing. Coupons are for personal use only and UNIQLO does not accept ones transferred from someone else. Referral codes belong to account registration and are not applicable during checkout. UNIQLO uses a prepaid return label and deducts a fee for it from the refund amount, taxed in some states, and it charges that fee once even when items from several orders travel back in the same package. There is also a list of goods it will not take back at all: anything used or washed, scratched, damaged or soiled, hemmed or altered, marked final sale, missing or with damaged accessories, innerwear including underwear and bras, used clothing sold through RE.UNIQLO along with items that have been repaired, and anything bought outside the United States. Alteration fees are non-refundable in their own right.

The discount does not survive the return either. UNIQLO deducts the coupon value across the items in proportion to what each one cost, states that the coupon loses its value and cannot be replaced, and treats the original shipping fees as non-refundable too. Multibuy works the same way: a refund is calculated on the price after the multi-buy discount, prorated across the items in the offer, so sending one piece of a bundle back returns the discounted unit price rather than the full one.
