Sephora Savings Event Starts Oct 30: Dates and How to Plan Ahead
Every fall, Sephora's Beauty Insider members wait for the same announcement: the start of the Savings Event, one of the few moments in the year when discounts apply across most of the store.
The sale takes place two to three times a year, and the fall edition arrives just as holiday shopping lists start to take shape. Now that the dates are out, the real question is what you will buy once it starts.
When does the Sephora sale start?
This year's fall event starts on Friday, October 30, with the first wave of access reserved for top-tier members. That leaves a short window to get organized, and if something on your list can't wait, the Sephora offers collected on Discoup show what is already discounted today, so you can decide whether a purchase is worth making now or holding until the event. The discount works both online and in store, and it is tied to your Beauty Insider account, so sign in before you check out.
When does the Sephora sale end?
The sale ends on Monday, November 9 for all members. Because access opens in phases, some members get a longer window than others, so the closing date matters most if you are at the entry level of the program.
How Beauty Insider tiers shape your timing
Beauty Insider is free to join and has three tiers:
- Insider, with no minimum spend;
- VIB, for members who spend $350 a year;
- Rouge, starting at $1,000 a year.
This fall, Rouge members can start shopping on October 30, VIB and Insider members on November 3.
Discounts are set at 20% for Rouge, 15% for VIB and 10% for Insider members, the same levels as the spring event.
Sephora Collection products are left out of the tier discount and get their own 30% off for every member from October 30 to November 9.
Build your list before the discount goes live
A percentage discount saves the most on the priciest items, so a hair tool or a full-size fragrance you have been considering makes better use of the sale than a $12 lip balm.
Write down what you already use and will need in the coming months, add one or two bigger purchases you were planning anyway, and set a total budget. Anything that wasn't on the list before the sale deserves a second look before it goes in the cart.
Mind shelf life before you stock up
Doubling up on a favorite moisturizer can make sense; buying three mascaras usually doesn't. Many products carry a small open-jar symbol with a number, such as 6M or 12M, showing how many months they are meant to be used after opening. Eye-area products like mascara are generally replaced sooner than most, so stock up only on what you will open soon.
Gift sets: check the math first
Holiday value sets tend to fill the shelves around the fall sale. Before counting one as a deal, compare its price per ounce with the full-size version and ask yourself whether you would use every item inside. A set is a good buy when it costs less than the pieces you actually want.
Why chasing a higher tier rarely pays off
Spending extra just to move up a level is seldom worth it: based on recent events, the gap between one tier's discount and the next is about five percentage points, far less than the extra spending needed to qualify. The plan that works best is also the simplest: a short list, a fixed budget and dates confirmed on Sephora's own site.
